Glossary entry for
Allison, Mose

One of Van's favorite composers (as evidenced by the 1997 tribute album Tell Me Something), Mose Allison is a prolific and active musician who has described himself as a "middle class white boy" in love with the blues. Born born November 11, 1927 "in the Mississippi Delta on his grandfather's farm near the village of Tippo", Mose has released three dozen albums, the first in 1957 and the most recent in 2002.
