Glossary entry for
Arden, Linden

Several Van mailing list members have noted a play titled Linden Arden Stole the Highlights, which has had at least one run in the San Francisco area. The play was written and performed by Colin MacKenzie Mitchell, and one production was advertised with the following contact information:

On Saturday's at 7 pm
Oct 28, Nov 4, 11, Dec 2, 9

The Edinburgh Castle
950 Geary, (between Polk & Larkin), S.F.
Call (415) 751 8926 for details.

The story line is described as follows:

Colin Mackenzie Mitchell's excellent tale of an American drug enforcer's escape to his native home in Arklow, Scotland (sic). Mitchell delivers a performance which leaves the audience with a sense of freedom and a stronger sense of home. Brilliantly written, Mitchell is a man worth watching here in San Francisco.

It is not clear whether this is a work inspired by Van Morrison's song, or a work inspired by whatever inspired the song. My own suspicion is the former.
