The various occurrences of "carry on" in Van's song "Carry On Regardless" are references to a series of 31 smutty British sex comedies that were produced between 1958 and 1992. Amoong them were "Carry On Regardless" (1961), "Carry On Up The Khyber" (1968), "Carry On Nurse" (1959), "Carry On Doctor" (1967).

"Khyber" is cockney rhyming slang, where "Khyber Pass" = "arse"
