Glossary entry for
A gravy ring is a doughnut in the shape of a ring. It would be
deep-fried and dusted with sugar. The local bakery shops used to have
a machine in the window which mixed the batter, formed the rings,
fried them and applied the sugar, a great source of fascination
for small boys. |
