Glossary entry for
upper room
The "upper room" mentioned in "Avalon of the Heart", is probably a reference to the
furnished, upper room from Luke 22:12, designated by Jesus as the
place where he would eat his last passover, more commonly known as the Last
Supper. The Last Supper is also the origin of one of the best-known accounts
of the Holy Grail. "It is the vessel from which Jesus drank at the Last
Supper and afterwards came into the possession of Joseph of Arimathea, who
caught some of the blood that flowed from the wounds of the crucified Saviour".
