Glossary entry for
Wool Hall Studios

The Wool Hall near Bath, was I believe bought by Van in January 1994. Having recorded several (five I think) albums there 'he liked the studio so much' he bought it. It was previously owned by 'Tears for Fears'. Despite being Van's studio it is residential and is used by other bands who can often be found in local pubs.

Van has a house in Wiltshire so the studio is very convenient. This whole area (close to my house) is favoured by musicians as it is within easy distance of London, but is also a very nice part of the world. Georgie Fame lives at a village called Stoke St Trister, within 40 minutes drive of Bath. Other musicians nearby include Sting. Toyah Wilcox and Robert Fripp also live close by as does Julian Bream the Classical guitarist and John Elliot Gardiner the classical composer. Peter Gabriel has a house near Bath and his own studios. Tori Amos has I believed now moved to Cornwall.
