1h35m; "Hi group Just wanted to share my joy of having been to my best Van concert ever (best of app. 10). :) I saw him twice in Copenhagen earlier this year, but last night topped them by far. After the Copenhagen shows, I remember thinking, that he really looked good, was in a good mood, and that his voice was great. But he just picked the wrong songs! Boring 50's rock n' hillbilly style tunes.. and the paranoid "they're all on my back" tracks.. Last night he was cheerful, laughing and joking. I belive he was improvising a lot lyrically - there were lots of small changes here and there.. Suddenly he was whispering and repeating - "and you walked in the green fields - when the sky was blue".. Another great moment was when the band got almost silent, and the crowd was completely still. Van just stood there singing without his microphone - "just .. one.. more.. time.." Great duets with Chris Farlowe (magnificent final song "Stand by me", good "It's all over now Baby blue" and a great "Sometimes we cry") - though I find him a bit pathetic, Van enjoys his company on stage and probably backstage too :) Even the usual boring tracks had a nice happy energy to them like he was experiencing them a new way. (or maybe it was just me:)) Lots of scatting too and a long part of inarticulate speech - I think it was during "precious time". Having heard hundreds of bootlegs, I think his voice hasn't been stronger since the seventies. It's sharp and distinct and very dynamic - suddenly he's shouting - the moment after he's whispering - and singing in a very high tone and then going low humming like a bear in the same song.
